ARMENIA

Armenia is a country dotted with as many monasteries as it has mountains and is one of the world’s oldest centres of civilisation. Landscape dominates Armenia; wide sweeping steppe rises to 6600 feet, and rich forest and alpine zones are abundant with flora and fauna. If you enjoy walking, birdwatching, picnicking and exploring medieval monasteries then a visit to Armenia is a must. Armenia’s culture is rich, diverse, orthodox, and tinged with tragedy throughout its history, which makes it all the more compelling for its inherent resilience. The capital Yerevan is eclectic and cosmopolitan with some fine hotels and restaurants to choose from, and where Winston Churchill ordered his favourite cognac in bulk.

Armenia - is a book, which was studied by the first people.
— Osip Mandelstam, Journey to Armenia
